Experienced and professional, Church & Hawes are your local, Estate Agents

At a recent market appraisal a returning customer produced an old valuation letter dating back to 1979!

We were intrigued to assess the marketing benefits of instructing Church & Hawes to sell your home in 1979 and see how they compared to our clients current marketing requirements. We wanted to share this valuation letter which was conducted by one of the original founding partners in 1979. Despite the price looking like there is a digit missing there were some very different considerations for a seller to take on when looking to place their home on the market:

Although there were some similarites we were amused by some of the differences and we thought you would enjoy them too:

  • Although our branch locations have changed we still offer a very unique local multi office network with our current branches located at Maldon, Danbury, Burnham on Crouch and South Woodham Ferrers.

  • Back in the 1970's we used to have specialist mortgage consultants based in house. Today we have a number of independent mortgage advisors which we work alongside to assist you with the key financial decisions of your move.

  • Unlike 1979 when we were proud to advertise your home with "one photo" in 2022 it goes without saying we offer every home with a full colour brochure with numerous photos.

  • Our daily send outs in the mail room have evolved too, we do still have an extensive mailing list registered on our database but we now instantly update them with properties matching their criteria. Our advanced "Heads up Property Alerts" match our applicants to relevant homes based on their own specified detailed criteria. CLICK HERE to Sign Up. This updates buyers as soon as new properties are listed.

  • Nowadays we do not just give colour photographs for a sole agency listing, we give you enhanced digital photographs, full colour brochures, floor plans and Virtual viewings for all types of listings our aim is to promote your home in it's best light to the largest possible audience.

  • In 1979 we were the only estate agents in Maldon to be able to promote the fact that we had TWO cars available to attend and host viewings meaning we had the best chance of fitting in with a potential viewers requirements! We understand that our main competitor at the time only had one car! 😂🤣 (This is perhaps our personal favourite).

  • The newspaper publications were a regular source of enquiries when we first opened in 1967 with a readership of over £600,000! Today we promote all of our properties on major property portals such as OnTheMarket and rightmove, to millions.

On a serious note it is very satisfying to have returning customers after forty three years. If we can assist with your house move feel free to book a free market assessment by contacting your local branch CLICK HERE for contact details.
