What? Wickford Wildlife Society Talk
Where? St. Andrews Church Hall, 11 London Road, Wickford
When? Wednesday 16th October 2019
A talk by Ian Mercer on ‘Thames Through Time’. Ian is a retired geologist and the Chairman of the Essex Rock and Mineral Society. Thames Through Time reveals the story of the River by noticing sediments and landscapes in and around Essex and will reveal why the Thames is actually an Ice Age River! Fun for adults and kids – come along and learn!
 
What? Hatfield Forest - Spooky Bake-off 2019
Where? Hatfield Forest, near Bishop’s Stortford
When? Wednesday 30th October and Thursday 31st October 2019
Join the learning team for some ghoulish food and fire pit fun. Come and make terrible tasty treats around the fire pit. Cook beastly burgers, make green and red bread twists, toast marshmallow ghosts and wash it all down with hideous hot chocolate.... if you dare. Meet at the classroom behind the café and follow the pumpkins!
 
What? Oktoberfest
Where? The Place, Pitsea Leisure Centre, Northlands Pavement, Pitsea, Basildon
When? Saturday 26th October 2019
Join us for a fun filled night to celebrate Oktoberfest. With a selection of German beers for you to try at the bar, a Hog Roast available and The Stein Meister’s Oompah Band providing the entertainment it will be a fun filled night for the whole family. The Doors, and the bar, open at 7.00pm and the music starts at 7.30pm.
 
What? Autumn Open Day
Where? Easton Lodge, Little Easton, Dunmow
When? Sunday 20th October 2019
The Gardens of Easton Lodge are an idyllic haven (Historic England, Grade II listed). They have been partially restored to their former glory by a team of dedicated volunteers and the owners of Warwick House. This event marks their last open day of the season, with plenty of seasonal activities for the little ones, and food and drinks available too! Celebrate the last bits of sunshine in beautiful surroundings.
 
What? Farleigh Hospice Charity Events Day
Where? The Grove Shopping Centre, Witham
When? Saturday 26th October 2019
Come down to what promises to be an exciting day to raise money and promote awareness for Farleigh Hospice. Teddy Bear Tombola, guess the name of Grove Teddy, an appearance by Hugo the Elephant and The Grove Bear, Witham Craft Group and craft stall, various market stalls, and lots more to be confirmed!
 
What? Writtle Art Group Autumn Exhibition
Where? Writtle Village Hall, Essex
When? Saturday 19th October – Sunday 20th October 2019
Writtle Art group are holding an autumn exhibition with lots to see and do. There will be some incredible artwork and paintings for sale, crafts to take part in, and teas and refreshments available throughout. Admission is just 50p, but all children go free! A great way to spend the day.
 
What? Chelmsford Model Railway Exhibition
Where? St John Payne School, Patching Hall Lane, Chelmsford
When? Saturday 19th October 2019
The Chelmsford Model Railway Club's annual exhibition is a well-established occasion attracting modellers and families from far and wide. This year there will be around 17 layouts, some large and some small based on British and Continental scenes covering scales form N, OO, OO9 to O. There will be around 12 traders to provide locomotives; rolling stock and scenic supplies as well as the ever-popular club second hand stand to find some bargains.
 
What? Sandy Denny Tribute Night
Where? Museum of Power, Hatfield Road, Langford nr Maldon
When? Thursday 17th October 2019
The first in a set of 3 events celebrating the songs performed by the late and great Sandy Denny. Raising money for The Museum of Power, Langford, Essex and Shelter (for the homeless), five vocalists and six talented musicians will perform some of the beautiful, melodical and eclectic songs made famous by this talented artist, known for her role as lead singer, guitarist and pianist in Fairport Convention, Fotheringay and for a short time in The Strawbs as well as her solo works.
