You may consider this a rhetorical question but we explore why our applicants choose to move to this delightful waterside town.

Located on the banks of the River Blackwater is the delightful market town of Maldon. It is fortunate enough to benefit from a range of amenities from your local independent stores such as butchers, hair salons and restaurants but now with it appealing demographics has attracted more major national brands such as Marks & Spencer and Lidl with Aldi, Next, Sports Direct amoung others now being available on the Blackwater Retail Park. If you get thirsty there is now a number of Costa outlets available in the town!

Property types available in the town:

Given the nature of the settlement the town is rich in history with some of the established homes located close to the town centre believed to date back some 400-500 years. Stepping into some of the oldest homes in the town it's intriguing to see how they have evolved over the years.

As you step away from the town centre, you will witness cottages and homes dating back to the start of the 20th centuary. Many of the fisherman's cottage on Maldon's Hythe Quay are constructed on foundations of shells which undoubtedly was very locally sourced!

After this there is further evidence of impressive character homes dating back to the 1930's many of these benefit from generous plot sizes, stunning bay windows and tiled fireplaces. These are predominently still located within reach of the town centre, some even offering river views and can command a sales premium.

Maldon then saw a considerable period of development in the 1960's and 1970's with more densely populated estate being constructed. Maldon's "Poets Estate" and many of the properties on the "Western Side of the town were built in this era!

From the middle of the 1990's the town began to see more convential modern homes going up with developers such as Wickford Developments and David Wilson looking to profit from the areas popularity. More recently this has see significant new estates also being erected by Linden Homes, Taylor Wimpey and Countrside.

Local Clubs and community

Maldon is a town which has preserved it's sense of community. Being a waterside town the area is lucky to benefit from several local sailing clubs.#

The bowls club is located down next to the promenade park on the south side of the town.

Maldon Rugby Club and Maldon Cricket Club share facilities down in Heybridge at Drapers Chase.

You may also want to get involved in Maldon Golf, Tennis or Badminton Clubs.

Local Schools

Maldon has a range of pre and primary schools located around the town. For those seeking private education there is also Maldon Court preparatory school.

In terms of secondary education The Plume School has two sites in Maldon the lower Plume in Mill Road and Upper Plume nearer to the top of the High Street in Fambridge Road.
