Heybridge is a large village located next to the market, waterside town of Maldon. The village itself is large enough to be a town but is often overshadowed by it's historic neighbour. This location offers canal side walks a range of shops and food outlets the Bentalls shopping center is in the middle of the village which also offers easy access to the Blackwater retail Park. Heybridge also boasts it's own

In terms of local history, Edward Hammond Bentall (1814–1898) was an industrialist who developed the agricultural machinery manufacturing business established by his father William Bentall (1776–1836) and traded under the name E H Bentall & Co. In 1873 he built a large Italianate house called The Towers at the corner of Goldhanger Road and Colchester Road. The house pioneered concrete block construction and was built with ducted air heating and no fireplaces, although some were added later. The house was demolished in the 1950s. Today the site is occupied by the Towers Estate. Many of the Bentall's workers cottages are still being purchased and sold by Church & Hawes in the village.
Popular estates in Heyridges include, Blackwater Park which was constructed by Bovs homes from 1995. The Saltings Development, the Salcote Maltings, The old Towers site and developments located to the rear of Plantation Hall.
