Quarantine Survival Guide - By Church & Hawes Estate Agents

We are facing a fast evolving situation during a period of recommended isolation. We have put together our top tips to keep you all entertained to make the time pass more quickly.

Drawing on my personal experience, working from home, the thought of three children 13, 10 and 3 stuck in isolation together for a long period did intimidate me at first.

With advances of technology, we are undoubtedly more fortunate than we would have been 25 years ago enetrtained by our Sega Megadrive and colouring book. I personally would like to commend the schools for their swift action and crisis management with sending over work and putting together online classes within a space of a few weeks. My kids are really enjoying some of the fun educational websites recommended by their schools like:

Age 3:

Age 10:

Age 13:

It's been really impressive how well know celebrities have used their fame to raise awareness and keep us positive during this time.

Carol Vorderman has is now offering the nation FREE MATHS LESSONS (click the link to check it out) normally £2 per week, this seems like a great idea.

Joe Wicks (The Body Coach) has taken to allowing all our children access to PE LESSONS during the pandemic tune in at 9am daily to enjoy the workout. Impressively the last one my children enjoyed was being viewed by over 900,000 people!

Oti Mabuse The Strictly Star and Greatest Dancer judge is offering DAILY DANCE LESSONS for all at 11.30am on Facebook Live, Instagram Live and Youtube Live.

Miss G's academy of performing arts My daughters Dance Academy have also gone online and are suitable for all ages feel free to join Miss G's academy HERE!

Aside from the above, it's important to have fun and keep smiling. The situation we are faced with is tough and if you told me a fortnight ago we would be passing on Mother's Day wishes via Skype, I would have laughed and made a joke about it but during this fast moving evolving crisis I fear this is the new norm. It's really important to stay in touch with the loved ones we are away from so I would strongly recommend downloading Skype or House Party (or similar video chat application) to your computer or smart device at least then we can see each other's faces and share smiles.

Bearing in mind the social distancing recommendations we should follow guidelines and make the most of our one form of daily exercise and take in the fresh air and get our daily top up of vitamin D.

For the adults, with the washing, ironing and cleaning by this point well and truly up to date already, we've been searching (with a group of friends) to find things we can do together/via Skype that will still allow us to socialise. We signed up via Facebook to a VIRTUAL PUB QUIZ when there was only a few people listed as attending. Looking at the event again today there are now over 360,000 members who are going to join in at 8.15pm tomorrow night. Any excuse for a glass of wine with friends!

We really hope these recommendations will help the time in isolation pass a little more quickly for some of you. Stay safe everyone.
